Possibly Lord Ronald Gower; his sale, London, Christie's, 16 July 1896, lot 493 (to Charles Fairfax Murray for £ 12.00); Charles Fairfax Murray (1849-1919), London and Paris; J. Pierpont Morgan (1837-1913), New York (no mark; see L. 1509).
Summary:

The pose of the little shepherdess seated on a tuft of ground is very much like the mature girl in "Bergère Assise" a small print engraved after Boucher by Théodore chevalier de Vallory (repr. Paris 1971, 1615). Aside from the similarity of pose, the shepherdess in the print wears similar attire with the exception of her hat and staff.

Associated names:

Morgan, J. Pierpont (John Pierpont), 1837-1913, former owner.
