Watermark: none.
Resting against a stone block to the right of Charity is an anchor, the symbol of Hope. The present study, then, may have been part of a larger program representing the three Christian or "theological" virtues of Faith, Hope and Charity.
Recto and verso are each matted with separate lengths of paper according to dimensions of image.
Formerly attributed to Marcantonio Franceschini.

Inscription:

Inscribed on mount beneath drawing in pen and brown-gray ink, "Franceschini di Bologna / voltate foglio"; on mount at lower right in pen and black-brown ink, "D"; on verso of mount beneath drawing in pen and brown-gray ink, "voltate foglio".
